Welcome Chris Roseneder Band: Mr. Andrew Denning Tuesday & Wednesday (all day) Strings: Ms. Jamie-Lee Melvin Thursday (all day) & Friday (morning) Co-ordinator: Mrs Anusha Jeeva All days

Recruitment Process Musical aptitude testing – classroom music Expressions of interest – Yr 2 strings and Yr 3 band Parent information night – information and questions

Instrumental Music Overview Extension of classroom music Unique to QLD Open to all students (year 3 & up) Lesson & ensemble Minimal cost ($90 per year)

Instruments Available STRINGS – Year 2 * Violin * Viola * Cello * Double bass BAND – Year 3 and some Year 4 * Woodwind – flute, clarinet, alto saxophone * Brass – trumpet, trombone, baritone, euphonium * Percussion – glockenspiel, untuned AND auxiliary percussion

What’s involved – lessons Lessons at No Charge 30 minutes each week + band or ensemble Small groups mostly in like instruments Rotating timetables Communication – music block, classroom and class teacher, newsletter, group , website, facebook and Qschools app reminders for events.

What’s involved – ensemble Beginner Strings or Junior Band Starts in Term 2 Junior Band: Once a week before school (7:45-8:45) Beginner Strings: usually Friday at second break Music provided Performances outside school hours Attendance is Compulsory unless advised otherwise Notes needed for absences/late arrivals

What’s involved – other info Current Cost (subject to change in 2016) * School instrument $80 * Own instrument $30 Own instrument after 1 st year – except larger instruments (Double Bass, Baritones etc) Music Performance Uniform Commitment for full duration (end of year 6)

What happens next? Music Aptitude Testing in Term 3 Expression Of Interest Forms with due date for return Suitability Testing on nominated Instruments First and Second Round Offers of Positions & Enrollment information given out Offers due back by: FRIDAY 9/10/15 If no reply is received by this date, another student on the waiting list will be offered the instrument. Buy method book, music stand, any equipment for their instrument. Bring a pencil and eraser to lessons. Start lessons 2016 Week 2
