The Gothic Era By Jack Maddison,Maria Goodger And Alex Lawrence

Here is an extract from the book How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe, or how delineate the wretch whom with such infinite pains and care I had endeavored to form? His limbs were in proportion, and I had selected his features as beautiful. Beautiful! Great God! His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath; his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these luxuriances only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes, that seemed almost of the same colour as the dun-white sockets in which they were set, his shrivelled complexion and straight black lips…

The Gothic Era Gothic horror first started in 1764 and since then it has developed into films over the ages. Gothic horror means a pleasing terror. Most of the books such as Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Frankenstein and Dracula were wrote in the Victorian times. Did you know that Frankenstein was wrote by an 18 year old.

Gothic authors and books Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, Mayfair Witches by Anne Rice, The Haunted Hotel and Other Stories by Wilkie Collins, One Thousand and One Ghosts by Alexandre Dumas, Andrew Brown, Possession by A.S. Byatt, Young Goodman Brown and Other Short Stories by Nathaniel Hawthorne
