WHAT IS EMC? Electromagnetic interference can manifest in a variety of ways and the emission source is usually frequency dependent. The interference can be conducted, through mains cables and earthing connections, or radiated. Most electronic hardware contains elements which act in a similar manner to an antenna, such as cables, pcb tracks, internal wiring and mechanical struc- tures. These elements can unintentionally transfer energy via electric, magnetic or electromagnetic fields, which couple with other circuits. KOPEX SCREENFORCE SYSTEMS

WHAT IS EMC? Examples: Mobile phone interference with a normal telephone or with a car radio. Interference on a television from vacuum cleaner. KOPEX SCREENFORCE SYSTEMS If this type of interference was to happen to instrumentation or equipment inside a hospital then it would be possible for that piece of equipement to malfunction or give incorrect readings.

WHAT IS EMC? Essential requirements for equipment It is constructed so that: Electromagnetic disturbance generated does not affect other equipments intended operation (Emission). Such as electrical cables. The piece of equipment has a level of intrinsic immunity to electromagnetic disturbance so that it operates as intended (Immunity). This could include data cables. KOPEX SCREENFORCE SYSTEMS

ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS MAGNETIC AND ELECTRIC FIELDS ARE INTRINSICALLY RELATED A changing electric field produces a perpendicular magnetic field and A changing magnetic field produces a perpendicular electric field WHAT IS EMC? KOPEX SCREENFORCE SYSTEMS

Pliable conduit has high screening due to the specially coated Steel and the fact that it is manufactured without ‘holes’ for the waves to escape. Closed construction Open Construction KOPEX SCREENFORCE SYSTEMS
