New Union Baptist Church Debt Retirement Project

Campaign Goal Retire Existing Church Debt of $ 110, by August 31, 2011

Rationale Church has been blessed by growth – Over 800 members – Over 200 children under 13 – Over 100 youth between – Many new activities for everyone from babies to Seniors – New property purchase – New church staff

Rationale Need for facility improvements – Church Auditorium – Sunday School Classrooms – Sound System – Video Projection System – Recreational Facilities – Parking – Others……….

Rationale Current Debt $ 110, at end of August Bond issues, plus Line of Credit—Balance of $ 1.2M initiated in 2000 Annual Operating Budget $ 628, for Fiscal Year

Rationale New Union is historically fiscally conservative – Confident Growth – Well Planned Projects – Not only honors God, but avoids financial pitfalls that have plagued many churches Brother Danny and Deacon Board Recommendation to retire existing debt in order to place church in best position to address future project needs mentioned earlier

Rationale The Plan – Address some upgrades, including sound, in upcoming Budget that will be presented September 1 st – Retire all existing debt by August 31, 2011 – Place Church in best possible position to launch new projects and upgrades to facilities previously mentioned

Rationale Committee Was Formed—Stan’s Sunday School Class—and charged by the Deacon Board to investigate options for fund raising projects

Rationale Guidelines – Stay within Church Family – Involve everyone – Commitment is over and above current giving— including Harvest Day – Impose as little as possible – Be Practical – Get most “Bang for the Buck”

Rationale Possible Projects – Pie Supper – Gospel Singing – Golf Tournament – Yard Sale – Dinners – Car Wash – Everything You Could Imagine

Rationale Quickly Became Obvious a Church-Wide Pledge Drive Offered the Following Advantages: – No Need for Monthly Projects – Can Involve Everyone – No Operating Expenses – 100% “Bang for the Buck”

Rationale Could It Work? – Existing Debt is $110,500 – While Harvest Day 2010 Is Not a Part of Your Pledge Commitment, it WILL Continue to be Applied to Debt Retirement – Harvest Day 2010 in November Expected to Bring $40-55,000—Leaving Approximately $70,000 – While this Project is New and Unique for New Union, We Will Need Harvest Day to Continue to be an Annual Fundraiser Every Year

Rationale Using the $70,000 as the Amount this Project Needs to Raise, We Offer the Following Scenarios: – Single Donor$ 70,000 One Time – 100 Donors$ 700 One Time $ 59 Monthly – 200 Donors$ 350 One Time $ 30 Monthly – 300 Donors$ 234 One Time $ 20 Monthly With current membership, any combination of above should work, plus provide for any other desired commitments at any level

Rationale Youth Involvement – 200 Children under 13 – 100 Teen-Aged Youth 50% involvement at $1 Week = $ 7,800 50% involvement at $2 Week = $15,600 Wonderful Opportunity for Youth

Rationale So…….can it work??? ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!! We just need everyone

Rationale Name of Project Growing Together Building in Faith

Commitment PRAY – Your commitment is between you and God Signature not required Personal records not kept, unless you so request Just a need to estimate Project potential And a need to track Project income

Commitment The Plan – Turn in Pledge Card by September 15 – Designated envelopes will be available to identify your pledge – Checks can be marked “Debt Retirement” but preferable in envelope – Track Project Progress with weekly PowerPoint thermometer, as well as actual posted signing – Continue in Prayer for Project

Commitment The Committee’s Prayer – Overwhelming response that retires full debt prior to August 31, 2011—we will give all Honor and Glory to God for the accomplishment—and every individual would need to make a personal choice whether to continue their commitment through August 31 st – That all unfulfilled commitments continue to pour in— positioning our Church even better to address future growth to the Glory of God
