Overview of photosynthesis Photo + synthesis “light-making” EQ: what is being made?

Making through light Photosynthesis produces ATP from ADP ATP is cell’s energy package ADP + P = ATP So, we can say, photosynthetic organisms are producers. Producers of what? 1)ADP + P = ATP, 2)ATP is cell’s energy package 3)Definition of a producer

Photosynthesis in chloroplasts Chloroplast = grana + stroma Grana are stacks of thylakoids, Stroma is the fluid outside the grana. Thylakoids do the work of photosynthesis— Taking in the water and carbon dioxide and making glucose and oxygen

Photosynthesis reactions happen in parts 1) light-dependent reactions-energy captured from the sunlight—water is broken down and oxygen released, 2) light independent reactions-use energy from light-dependent reactions to make glucose.

Photosynthesis Carbon dioxide + water  glucose + oxygen 1) The light-dependent reaction makes the energy to…. 2) Perform the light independent reaction of making the glucose. EQ: How is energy from sunlight used to make glucose molecules?
