Drugs Some types Misconceptions Reasons for and against use The effects Advice

Some types of drugs Tobacco smoking Marijuana Alcohol Methamphetamine (ice) Many more….

Misconceptions Taking a drug is not necessarily bad for you The majority of people take drugs Taking a drug affects everybody equally

Reasons for use Stress relief (removes problems) Rebellious and cool Relieves boredom Medical benefits Conform Peer pressure Drugs like marijuana grow naturally and are therefore safe Be adventurous and curious (you only live once)

Reasons against Increases stress – drugs affect the brain leading to depression and mental illness. The drug takes over you and becomes the stressor. How can I afford my next hit? What if I get caught? How much do I need to take next time? How will I live without it? Its not cool – you are more likely to perform poorly in school and get fired from work. You’re not cool for promoting drugs, you’re cool for promoting things that actually help people.

Being bored worth the risk Being bored worth the risk? – if you take a drug just for the sake of boredom you’re risking your life. There are healthier, more fulfilling activities to do in your spare time. Medical benefits? – All medical organisations disagree. All drugs have side effects and are dangerous to your health. Marijuana has no medical benefits and is not a medicine. Conform – the majority of the world’s population do not use drugs. You’re joining the minority not the majority if you use drugs.

Peer pressure – never give in to the crowd Peer pressure – never give in to the crowd. Make real friends who respect you for who you are. Naturally grown drug does not mean its safe – fungus mushrooms are poisonous despite being naturally grown. Drug dealers add harmful chemicals most of the time anyway. You only live once – you only die once! This can be a deadly motto for life.

Effects Physical effects Too many to list here (physical death is the most severe) Emotional effects Depression, mental illness, many more ….. Spiritual effects Spiritual death

Advice Never, ever, ever try an illicit drug Make real friends if your friends are into drugs Be extremely careful about what you hear, see or believe to be true. Do some research Just say no if you’re offered Do useful activities in your life (praying, reading spiritual books, reading educational books, watching spiritual videos, watching educational videos, writing, play sports, hang out with real friends, fishing, telescope viewing or whatever else ……) Get help when you need it
