Design & Problem Solving Process

Objectives Understand and follow the design process throughout the AP Car activity. Design a car that considers and uses the principles of aerodynamics. Document your ideas using different methods of graphic communication Work in a safe manner while producing a high quality product. Evaluate and analyze the results of the constructed AP Car after racing it.

Unit Timeline Design Process (2) Sketching & Drawing (3) Aerodynamics (1/2) Car Design (1 ½) Graphic Communications (1) Risk Management (2) Car Construction (5) Finishing Touches & Assembly (1) Races (2) Evaluation & Analysis (1)

Design Challenge There is a need for a new golf tee, the worlds longest golf tee.  Build a golf tee capable of holding a golf ball straight out from the wall for a measured distance.  Your design will compete against other groups.  Divide into groups of three or four  One member of the group should pick up the needed supplies.

Challenge Guidelines Use all materials that are available No adding any other materials, only the ones provided may be used. Select a spokesperson for the group to present the design. Extra materials will be given but points will be deducted.
