POLYGONS & QUADRILATERALS

POLYGON A polygon is a flat, closed plane figure made up of three or more line segments. polygons Not polygons

TRIANGLE A triangle is a 3-sided polygon.

QUADRILATERAL A quadrilateral is a 4-sided polygon.

PENTAGON A pentagon is a 5-sided polygon.

HEXAGON A hexagon is a 6-sided polygon.

HEPTAGON or SEPTAGON A heptagon is a 7-sided polygon.

OCTAGON An octagon is an 8-sided polygon.

QUADRILATERALS

PARALLELOGRAM A parallelogram has opposite sides parallel and opposite sides are equal in length. NAMES: Quadrilateral, Parallelogram

RECTANGLE A rectangle has opposite sides parallel and four right angles. NAMES: Quadrilateral, Parallelogram, Rectangle,

TRAPEZOID A trapezoid has only one pair of parallel sides. NAMES: Quadrilateral, Trapezoid

RHOMBUS A rhombus has opposite sides parallel and all four sides are equal in length. NAMES: Quadrilateral, Parallelogram, Rhombus,

SQUARE A square has four sides of the same length and four right angles. NAMES: Quadrilateral, Parallelogram, Rectangle, Rhombus, Square
