Napoleon Bonaparte Born in 1769, three weeks after the France took over his island home of Corsica. Father a lawyer who took to french rule quickly. But Napoleon hated France and felt his father betrayed his country. In 1778, at nine years old Napoleon was sent to France for the first time to a special military school called Brienne.

When he was 15, a very good student, he was sent to the Royal Military academy and at 16 was made second Lieutenant of artillery unit. Problem was he was not “French” and although one of the best he was not allowed to climb the ranks. When the revolution began, at age, 23 he went home to Corsica and got into politics.

In Corsica he began a revolution against the governor of the island. His small force was overpowered, a price was put on his head, and he had to leave his home back to France...
