1 Nanosat-5 Progress Report 26 February 2008

Structural / Design Tenant Design Review ( ) –Rounds changed to 1/8 th inch (.4 cm) Applies to isogrid, component boxes, etc –Holes changed to represent actual diameter, not tapped diameter e.g. 1/4 th inch to 3/16 th inch –Torque coil mounts Will be cut into two pieces for easy of fabrication Will require flanges to assemble –More weight –Battery Box Will be wire EDM’d Less screws in battery box lid –4 screws instead of 8 2

Structural / Design Analysis –Continuing work with Ansys Model integration from ProE Vibrational analysis capabilities of Anysis and how to implement with model Possible simplification of model structure to reduce complexities and time of analysis 3

Thermo Orbit Propagation Code –Completed code Orbital determination Sun position vector from earth Incidence angles on each face Eclipse time View factors and radiation from earth Transient heat flux from incoming solar radiation as a function of incidence angle 4

Thermal Analysis –Importing model from ProE –Continuing work with ANSYS –Studying transient heat flux and general radiation techniques Radiosity method vs Radiation Matrix Model elements Time varying heat flux 5

Immediate Tasks Apply Tenant Design Review changes Acquire reliable access to ANSYS pro Resolve issues with ProE integration Begin model implementation and analysis –Both thermal and structural 6
