Severn Postgraduate Medical Education currently offers this exciting and innovative qualification which is aimed at providing practitioners with a strong set of coaching skills. It is a very versatile qualification and may be the choice of learners who have who have several years leadership experience and but have had no formal training in coaching in their role. This course will provide you with a practical grounding and understanding of the differences between coaching and mentoring; and the purpose, role and contribution of coaching and mentoring to development of individuals and organisations. It is designed to develop your capability as a leader to influence, guide and develop those around you through the power of coaching. How is the course structured? The ILM Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring is made up of three mandatory units: In the first mandatory unit participants critically review their own ability to perform effectively as a leadership mentor or executive coach, engaging in peer mentoring to seek feedback and advice on individual performance. In the second unit participants critically review the role and contribution of coaching and mentoring to individuals and organisations. During the final mandatory unit participants plan, deliver and review at least 12 hours of leadership mentoring or management coaching. Two assignments will be completed by participants to demonstrate that they understand the principles discussed in the three mandatory units. What are the benefits? A highly interactive course with 5 days of in-depth workshops, delivered on a modular basis, with tutor/peer support. 12 hours of supervised coaching/ mentoring sessions with supervision from our expert and highly experienced Professional Coaches Handbooks, workbooks and refreshments Up to 18 months of free student membership to the ILM and to their member resources. On completion, an ILM Level 5 Certificate as well as 13 credits on the international qualifications framework What do I get? Introduction Quote from a previous candidate: “This course has already proved to me the value of high quality training in Coaching and Mentoring. We may think as experienced managers and teachers that we know how to develop ourselves and others, but the benefit of ‘Time to Think’ and effective coaching questions taught early in the program is evident from the first day, and of immediate benefit throughout my scope of work. Becoming an ILM Level 5 Coach will extend what I can offer my trainees and peers in away that would be difficult to match.”
