Port Traffic Summary Civilian – Passenger TrafficCommercial – Cargo Traffic 2013: 65.5 million passengers 2014: 5% increase from last year to date 19% of all travelers crossing through the United States ports cross here Issues with SENTRI at San Ysidro crossing due to construction and lack of open lanes 2013: 1.1 million trucks, $39.4B 2014: 3% increase from last year to date in volume, 7% increase from last year to date in value Seeing a 7% increase in entry releases from last year to date Cargo inspections remain equal to last year Growth seen in: ▫ Calexico ▫ Tecate ▫ Port of San Diego

New CBP Officers & Asst. Port Director 2,000 New Officers ▫ Otay Cargo will get 55 new officers. New positions, not all backfill. ▫ New officers will be coming in within the next 2 fiscal years. New Assistant Port Director: Celia Lozano

Narcotics Last year over 100 tons of narcotics seized in Southern California ports. Increase in seizures of hard narcotics in tractors and trailers, not in actual merchandise. Increase in seizures of narcotics crossed via the SENTRI lane. Decrease in marijuana seizures overall, but issues remain with bulk crossings. Hesitance to increase TRUST in Trusted Trader program.
