Traditional hand-drawn animation Stop – motion animation o Puppet animation o Clay animation (Plasticine animation) o Cutout Animation
Is the process where individual frames are drawn and then photographed. To create the illusion of movement, each drawing differs slightly from the one before it. The animators' drawings can be traced or photocopied onto transparent acetate sheets called cels, which are filled in with paints on the back side. Each object or part of the animation can be done separately (every character can be drawn separately and composited with the static background). Today, animators' drawings and the backgrounds are often scanned or drawn directly into a computer system.
Examples of traditionally animated feature films include Pinocchio (United States, 1940) or Animal Farm (United Kingdom, 1954)Animal Farm The example of traditionally animated film which was produced with the aid of computer technology isThe Lion King (US, 1994).
Is an animation created by physically manipulating real- world objects and photographing them frame-by-frame to create the illusion of movement. To create this type of animation we can use the computer software (e.g. iKITMovie Stop Motion software, Stop Motion Pro V6). There are many different types of stop-motion animation, usually named after the medium used to create the animation: puppet animation, clay animation, cutout animation... etc.
Examples of stop motion animated works include Jan Švankmajer’s Dimensions of Dialoque (CZ, 1982) (Možnosti dialógu) Dimensions of Dialoque
typically involves stop-motion puppet figures interacting with each other in a constructed environment the puppets generally have an armature inside of them to keep them still and steady as well as enable them to move at particular joints
Examples of puppet animation include Starewich’s The Cameraman's Revenge (1912), Ruka by Jiří Trnka( CZ 1965), The Nightmare before Christmas (US, 1993) or Corpse Bride (US, 2005)made by Tim BurtonThe Cameraman's RevengeRukaThe Nightmare before Christmas Corpse Bride
it is often called claymation (but this term is trademarked though) this technique uses figures made of clay or a similar modelling material (e.g. play dough) to create stop-motion animation the figures may have an armature or wire frame inside of them, similar to the puppet animation, that can be manipulated to pose the figures
examples of clay- animated works include The Adventures of Mark Twain(US 1985), Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were- Rabbit, the Chicken Run (2000), The Adventures of Mark TwainChicken Run
a type of stop-motion animation produced by moving 2-dimensional pieces of material such as paper, card, photographs or even cloth. characters and backgrounds are flat contemporary example of the cutout animation cartoon is Angela AnacondaAngela Anaconda
