Let Me See You 1-2 Step Two-Step Algebraic Equations

Today’s Vocabulary Two-Step Equations Coefficient Constant

Two Step Equations Two-Step Equations are equations that require two-steps to solve.  You will ADD or SUBTRACT and then MULTIPLY or DIVIDE. 3x + 8 = 29

Coefficient Coefficient – The number that is attached to a variable 3x + 8 = 29 Coefficient

Coefficient To get rid of the coefficient, you will either MULTIPY or DIVIDE

Constant The constant is the number that is not attached to a variable.  It MUST be on the same side of the equal sign as the variable. 3x + 8 = 29 Coefficient Constant

Constant To get rid of the constant, you will either ADD or SUBTRACT You get rid of the constant FIRST!!

4x + 12 = 20

6x + 3 = x + 2 = -8 5x + 15 = 24 -7x - 11 = 33 4x - 13 = x = -20 Label the Coefficient and the Constant

How do I solve two-step equations? To solve two-step equations, you do order of operations in REVERSE  This means that you do addition or subtraction FIRST

Reverse order of operations? What does that mean? Isn’t there an easier way to understand this?

How do I solve two-step equations? To solve two-step equations, you get rid of the constant FIRST  This means that you do addition or subtraction FIRST
