* An object’s change in position relative to a reference point. * Without a reference point we are unable to see motion.

* The distance traveled divided by the time interval during which the motion occurred. * S = D / T

* Velocity – The speed of an object in a particular direction. * Labels of velocities must include a direction to be accurate. Example: 20 km/h north * Acceleration – The rate at which velocity changes over time. An object accelerates if its speed, direction or both change. * A = FV – SV / Time

* Force- A push or pull exerted on an object in order to change the motion of an object. * All motion requires a push or pull force * Newton – Unit of measure for force

* Friction – A force that opposes motion between two surface that are in contact. * Anytime two objects are touching there is friction * Gravity – A force that pulls all objects toward the center of the Earth. * Friction and Gravity are two forces that oppose motion
