Presentation transcript:

Our scenario Geographically distributed communities of users Diverse users: ontology developers and software engineers

Our Repository Assistive technologies for elderly and handicapped population Provide a single entry point Facilitate programmatic access via API Stand alone and web based clients (Protégé) Web based publishing system (Bioportal)

Our Repository Facilitate reuse –Ontology patterns Facilitate interoperability –Encourage modularity –Encourage the adoption of good practices (documentation, methods, etc) –Practical use of E-connections

Our Repository Registered users –Upload –Edit/ Delete/search and retrieve –Share, tag, map, annotate –Private “desktop” area Non Registered users –Browse –Download public ontologies –Search and retrieve

Work supporting our repository Development of pertinent plug-ins –CMAPS: Cmaps supporting the development of ontolgies –RepOWL: basic management of a repository (local/URL based) Methodological issues –Currently we are working on a set of good practices for our community Metadata for ontologies –We are “adopting” and “evolving” OMV –Modularity, interoperability across metadata.

TBD E-Connections OMV: modularity, core meta data ontology, extendible Queries across several ontologies –How to support the manipulation of results in a way that users can re-use: “slicing ontologies”

Work supporting our repository
