Have each student come up with a school plan that will give the students more rights and present to class. Determine between opinion and fact. The students will give me statements and I will write them on the opinion or fact side of the board. Divide the class into four groups. give each group an issue to investigate and the have them present it to the class.

Hold a class election. Have candidates speak to the class. Have students vote and give reasons why they picked the candidate. The students will write the mayor or governor about a specific issue. They will then give a report in front of the class about the response they received.

It is important that students understand the city, state and country in which they live. Through the presentation, I was able to give examples and web sites that will help develop students knowledge in social studies.
