MODULE 23: ADVERTISING

Coordinating the efforts of the sales staff in advance pays off. An advertising sales kit organizes important information for the sales staff.

The sales call begins with personal contact. The follow-up to the sales call is also important.

The design clearly communicates the message of the business ad. Other types of ads present different messages.

PUT IT IN WRITING | An advertising contract outlines the specifications, pricing and policies.

TRADITIONAL FORMAT | Divides each page into eight ad sizes: full, ½, ¼ and 1/8 page.

BLOCK FORMAT | Divides the page into equal-sized units from 9 to 20 blocks. Rates are set per block.

A PERFECT COMBO | By combining regular coverage and advertising, businesses receive maximum exposure.

SPACE FOR SALE | School organizations often purchase pages within the advertising section for additional coverage.

VISUAL | To promote readership, colorful backgrounds and 22 small photos add reader appeal.
