ENERGY RESOURCES

WHAT IS ENERGY?  Energy is scientifically defined as the ability to do work, or the ability to move or elicit or cause change in matter.  In effect, the amount of energy something has refers to its capacity to cause things to happen. For example solar energy is used to heat water thereby changing the condition of the water.

 Energy resources are generally defined as anything that can be used as a source of energy.  Energy resources can be divided into renewable and non-renewable resources.

Energy Sources

NON-RENEWABLE AND RENEWABLE ENERGY RESOURCES Energy resources can be divided into two broad categories namely non-renewable and renewable resources. Non-renewable sources of energy are those that we can use only once and we can not be able to use them again such as petrol, coal and diesel. Renewable sources of energy are those that we can use and still continue to obtain them such as the heat from the sun and wind energy.
