Voluntary Association Of, By And For Local Governments Created To Strengthen The Individual And Collective Power Of Local Governments, And Help Them Recognize Regional Opportunities, Resolve Regional Problems And Make Joint Decisions NCTCOG Currently Covers 16 Counties 2

WHAT IS NCTCOG? Transportation Department NCTCOG Federally Designated As The Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) In 1974 The MPO Includes: NCTCOG Executive Board Regional Transportation Council Technical Committees Of Local Government And Transportation Agency Staff NCTCOG Transportation Department Staff Responsible For The Metropolitan Mobility Plan, The Transportation Improvement Program, Congestion Management, Air Quality Conformity, And The Unified Planning Work Program 3

TRANSPORTATION Air Quality Planning and Operations Responsible For Conducting Transportation And Air Quality Conformity Analysis Approximately 73 Percent of NOx Emissions In The Region Come From Mobile Sources (Engines) Federal Transportation Funds Are Directly Tied To Air Quality Assist With Development Of The Regional Plan For The State Implementation Plan Development And Implementation Of Local Air Quality Strategies/Measures/Programs 4

AIR QUALITY 8-Hour Historical Trends for DFW Area Consecutive 3-Year Periods Source: NCTCOG TR Dept – November 2007 Highest Average at any Given Monitor (ppb) * Current Attainment Goal - According to the US EPA National Ambient Air Quality Standards, attainment is reached when, at each monitor, the three-year average of the annual fourth- highest daily maximum 8-hour average ozone concentration is less than 85 parts per billion (ppb). Current Standard < 85 ppb Revised Standard = 75 ppb
