ERR, GRAD/GRESS, VEN/VENT, CUR/CURS VOCABULARY #13 ERR, GRAD/GRESS, VEN/VENT, CUR/CURS CRIMIN, CULP, ONUS/ONER, PROB/PROV Have the students review the roots studied for each group of words in relation to the prefix given. Next, have the students use context clues to guess what the vocabulary word might mean. Then, finally give them the meaning of the vocabulary word.

Latin: ERRARE, ERRATUM— “to wander”

1. Aberrant (adj.) Example: Since the data had been previously so consistent, the aberrant results puzzled the scientists. What does aberrant mean? Aberrant – Deviating from a pattern or rules. Synonym – Abnormal Antonym – typical

5. Congress (Noun) Example: The meeting of the scientists was hailed as “a congress of great minds.” What does congress mean? Congress – A coming together
