The Tatra Mountains The Tatra Mountains are the highest mountain range in the Carpathian Mountains. The Polish Tatras area is 175 km. The highest Tatras peak in Polish is Rysy 2499m. The Tatras consist of : *Western Tatras *Eastern Tatras The most important places in Tatras are: *Zakopane- a beautiful mountain town *Giewont – the most popular peak in Polish Tatra Mountains *Morskie Oko- the largest and the most popular lake *Gubałówka Hill- peak above Zakopane. This is a popular tourist attraction. *Wielka Krokiew(The Great Rafter) – jumping venue in Zakopane

The Tatra Mountains Zakopane – the town informally known as the Winter capital of Poland, lies in the southern part of the Podhale region at the feet of the Tatra Mountains. It lies in a big valley beyween the Tatras and Gubałówka Hill. It’s a most important Polish center of skiing. About three milion tourists visited Zakopane in one year.
