Agitators for Change? O Abraham Lincoln- President during the Civil War. Opposed to the EXTENTION OF SLAVERY. Wanted to do whatever to keep the country together. O Uncle Tom’s Cabin- Real life look at the treatment of slaves angered many to demand and end. Written by Harriet Beecher Stowe. O The Liberator – a abolitionist newspaper demanding and end to slave immediately. Published by William Lloyd Garrison.

Call to End Slavery! O Underground Railroad- A secret route of homes of friendly northerners that led to freedom. Harriet Tubman primary leaders of slaves. O The North Star- Newpaper written by Fredrick Douglass, a free black man to demand a end to slavery. Named after the star they followed to freedom. O Sojourner Truth- Escaped slave woman who fought to end slavery but also called for women’s rights.
