Heck Tate Favors and doesn’t question Bob Ewell’s testimony As the sheriff of Maycomb County, he isn’t out to hurt anyone or help anyone beyond what he thinks happened He didn’t call a doctor because it wasn’t necessary. Without a doctor there is no evidence that the rape actually happened. (pg. 167) Heck continues to back up Bob Ewell’s testimony even though he knows its not true and lacks medical and physical evidence.
Robert E. Lee Ewell (pg 169) named after a confederate general which is said to make for slow, steady, drinkers which describes Bob Testimony- hits the fence; sees Mayella and Bob Ewell together; comes inside running after Tom but Tom runs away Reason for not calling a doctor is that he never called a doctor in his life and it costs 5 dollars
Robert E. Lee Ewell In Bob Ewell’s testimony, he restated Heck Tate’s testimony. He didn’t show any actual evidence to prove he was at the scene. Its his word against Tom’s. Named after a Confederate general, and left handed. (Mayella was hit on the right side of her face) A drunk Didn’t call a doctor because it cost money. Lack of consideration for his daughter. Over-confident
Mayella Ewell Mayella seems to be changing the story many times which leads us to believe that she is lying. She is afraid to answer many questions about her father because he is a violent drunk and she isn't willing to share much information about her father. Mayella always called over Tom when she saw him on his way to work. She says she always had something for him to do. According to her, she was choked, abused, and taken advantage of by Tom. Scout says that she thinks Mayella may be more lonelier than Boo Radley. Mayella says that she has no friends because all of her friends would always make fun of her. Mayella is a nineteen year old girl.
Tom Robinson Hard worker, family man, keeps a low profile, respectable Testimony is the opposite as everyone else’s Shows embarassment( man attacked by a woman) Not afraid to tell the truth People think that he thinks he is better than a white person because he said that he felt sorry for Mayella because she is always lonely Tom says he is the victim and doesn’t stutter in the trial
