The Notebook Your Grade Depends On It!

Getting Started… On OUTSIDE COVER, write ENGLISH 2 and your name and period. Write your first & last name in large, neat, print, on the FRONT INSIDE cover and your period. Notebooks that don’t have a name clearly written on the front inside cover will not be graded! Get at least 2 study buddy phone numbers. Put them on the BACK INSIDE cover. Using pencil, number EVERY page of your notebook. Write the numbers on the TOP, OUTSIDE, CORNER of each page. Label the first 3 pages Table of Contents

Everything you do goes in your notebook! Keep ALL assignments This is a work in progress. Periodically go through your notebook & correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. You will be graded on your writing skills.

Grading Issues A blank page = 0 Some assignments will be “checked” some will be “graded”. Pages with no titles or page numbers will be an automatic 2 point deduction. If I can’t read it, I can’t grade it. Make sure your writing is legible.

Your Notebook is PRECIOUS! It must last all semester Remember, this is a long-term assessment tool that will help you pass this class! Do NOT LOSE YOUR NOTEBOOK!

Surprise! You won’t be given prior notice when notebooks are due. Don’t put off gluing in assignments or updating your Table of Contents I MAY let you use it on a test or quiz!

My Picky Little Details Keep your notebook in a binder Use the binder pockets to store assignments that haven’t been glued in yet Please write in pencil, blue or black ink. Every page needs a lesson title that matches the Table of Contents NEVER go on to the next page if you run out of room, simply add a glued in page. NO CREATIVE NUMBERING. Every page must be numbered in sequence.

It’s all about the glue! Fold pages neatly before they are glued in Only use glue sticks to glue!! NO tape! NO staples! Glue so pages open over the spiral Don’t glue over the holes Only put glue on the top inch of the paper If an assignment is glued on the wrong page or incorrectly it’s a ZERO NEVER go on to the next page if you run out of room.
