Facts About Nuclear Energy -Uses the nuclei of Uranium atoms -Uranium atoms are split open -1kg of nuclear energy creates 3 million times more energy than 1L of gas

How nuclear energy works orkings_of_a_nuclear_powerplant&video_id= html

Advantages (good to use) -No fossil fuels are used in the production of nuclear energy, so fossil fuels are preserved. -Very low air pollution -In one year, 600,000 houses can be powered by a typical nuclear power plant. -Plants usually produce only 1m 3 of waste per year.

Disadvantages (bad to use) -Nuclear energy produces extremely toxic and radioactive waste. -The radioactive material can take thousands of years to lose its radioactivity can take thousands of years to decompose. -It uses Uranium, which is a nonrenewable resource.

Is it good for the environment? - Nuclear energy is both good and bad for the environment. * It is good because the plants create almost no air pollution. *It is bad for the environment because it produces a lot of toxic and radioactive waste that can cause damage in the environment.

Renewable/ Nonrenewable -Nuclear energy is nonrenewable. *Uranium, which is a main substance used in nuclear energy, is a nonrenewable resource. Therefore, if we use all the uranium, nuclear energy will not function.

Would it be possible to use nuclear energy in Pittsburgh? -Yes, it is possible to use in Pittsburgh. *Nuclear energy is used in nuclear power plants, which can be built in a variety of locations. Many nuclear power plants are located on the northeastern states.

How does the future look for Nuclear energy: scarce/ plentiful -It could be exactly what humans need for the future, but it could also be what brings humanity down. - It could be a huge breakthrough by creating an energy source that uses a small amount of resource but provides a large amount of energy. -Accidents could easily happened and cause a major disaster.
