The Spring DLM

Winnie was a young girl. Winnie liked to explore.

One day, Winnie went into the woods near her house.

Winnie saw a boy in the woods.

The boy's name was Jesse. Jesse was a nice boy.

Jesse was sitting under a large tree.

Jesse was drinking water from a spring.

Winnie was thirsty. Winnie wanted a drink of water too.

Jesse told Winnie to not drink the water coming up from the ground.

Jesse's mom came to the big tree. Her name was Mae.

Mae brought a horse with her.

Winnie told Mae that she wanted a drink from the spring.

Mae told Winnie not to drink from the spring.

The water was bad.

The water made people live forever.

Winnie did not believe Mae was telling the truth.

Mae did tell the truth. Mae was kind and honest.

Living forever was not good. Mae told Winnie that living forever was a curse.
