R ocky Mountains- The R ocky Mountains tower over much of New Mexico. vast plains reach out into Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. Colorado Plateau-This Plateau is in Arizona.

As you get higher into the Rocky Mountains, It Gets colder Most of the Region is a Desert As you get down into the Grand Canyon it gets hotter Eastern Texas and parts of Oklahoma, Get almost 40 inches of rain per year.

Spanish settlers came to the southwest in 1540 the cattle drive was when cowboys drove cattle north. It ended when barbed wire was invented. COWBOYS WOULD WATCH THE CATTLE FOR RANCHERS

CATTLE IS A BIG PRODUCTION IN THE SOUTHWEST TOURISM ATTRACTS MUCH OF THE MONEY TOURIST LIKE TO GO TO ADOBES AND HOGANS
