Information Arizona (AZ) is the 48 th state of the USA. (14 February 1912) It’s located on the south-west of the country. Capital and the largest city – Phoenix.

About Arizona The state received the name from an Indian word «аrizonas» that means «the short spring». Its another name is the State of Grand Canyon, because on its territory there is a unique miracle of the nature — the Grand Canyon.

Arizona is a boundary state with Mexico. In the north of the state there is the Grand Canyon of the river Colorado.

The Flag of Arizona

History 1910 – Charles Harris made a model of a flag for the command of archeries. Later this model was chosen for the official flag of the state. 27 February 1917 – the flag of Arizona was confirmed.

Colours and their meanings The top part consists of 13 red and gold rays. Rays mean the first 13 districts of Arizona and symbolize beautiful sunsets of this state.
