Name Recognition L=strong end N=Nose Guard X=weak end S=Stud M=Mike M=Mac W=Wes SC=Strong Corner WC=Weak Corner SH= Hammer WH=Hawk FS=Free Safety

Gap Responsibilities A=centre guard hole B=guard tackle hole C=tackle end hole D=outside end (if applicable) Gaps apply to both sides

Strong/Weak Ball in middle of field, strong side will be to our left Ball on left hash, strong side to our right Ball on right has, strong side to our left Always be aware of field position at all times, including down and distance Safety makes the strong call

Offensive Terminology Farthest receiver will be #1, work inwards #2, #3, etc. Same on both sides of the field. If two wide receivers on opposite sides of formation we will have two #1’s. Offensive backfield. If in I fullback will be #2, tailback #1. If in split backfield #1 on strong side #2 on weak side.

Offensive Terminology Play Action – offense fakes running the ball and sets up for a pass » Offenses will do this once they have been able to run the ball consistently Screen - Offense usually sets up to pass the ball deep down the field. » OL let DL through to the QB » OL slide out to and QB dumps ball off to RB or TE – OL block downfield once the RB/TE gets ball Draw - QB drops back like a pass and as he gets to end of drops hands ball off to RB. » An Offense will do this once they have successfully passed the ball against a D.

Counter - fakes running right/left and runs the other way. » Usually once teams establish running toss they will run counter. » They fake toss and run off tackle the other way Off Tackle - the offense runs the ball at their offensive tackles. Offensive Terminology
