Ice Cubes

Big Question My big question is, which chemical substance will melt the ice cube the fastest?

Hypothesis My hypothesis is that the salt will melt the ice cube the fastest I think salt will melt the ice cube the fastest because it has carbon and hydrogen and oxygen in it .

Interesting facts The coke didn’t do any thing to the ice cube The Pepsi didn’t do anything either The pepper melted some of the ice cube The salt made holes in the ice cube the vinegar melted a little bit of the ice cube

Materials 5 ice cubes 5 cups (clear cups) Salt Pepper Coke Pepsi vinegar

Steps 1. put coke in one cup 2. put Pepsi in one cup 3. put salt in one cup and pepper in another one 4. put vinegar in the last cup 5. Wait till they melt

References www.google/images www.sciencefair.com

observations My observations were that the vinegar needed less vinegar the salt needed more salt And the pepper needed more pepper too.

data My data is that the vinegar was in 1st place the salt was in 2nd The pepper was 3rd Pepsi was 4th Coke was 5th

Analysis Yes my test did examine my hypothesis…

Conclusion No my hypothesis was incorrect because vinegar melted the ice cube the fastest. I would change the part where I put Pepsi in the cup, I would of put grinded up coffee beans in the cup. my new questions would be: would salt and vinegar melt an ice cube together or will sugar and grinded up coffee beans melt the ice cube the fastest.
