Purpose of Staff Survey  Important tool for quality improvement  Assess the level of satisfaction and engagement of employees  Critical issue in attracting and retaining staff 3

Positive Findings Top 3 Positive Trends in Staff Survey:  Your immediate supervisor  Computer training  Ethics Analysis of the 2012 staff survey showed the above category questions as averaging the highest overall score 4

Your Immediate Supervisor  78% of staff feel that their supervisor understands their job and is willing to back their employee up when needed (Q #4)  80% of staff feel that they can go to their supervisor(s) with anything and they will take the time to listen and try to correct the situation if needed (Q#5)  80% of staff are satisfied with the job being done by their immediate supervisor (Q#7)  82% of staff feel excellent/very good with the open door policy with their immediate supervisor (Q#35) 5

Computer Training  80% of staff are knowledgeable of where to store documents on their computer (Q#28)  76% of staff feel excellent or very good with their computer software knowledge in regards to their job (Q#29)  78% of staff have been shown the policy and procedure manual on the hospital’s intranet system (Q#55) 6

Ethics  86% of staff feel excellent/very good/good in regards to how ethical issues surrounding the hospital are handled by staff (Q#51)  86% of staff feel excellent/very good/good that ethics is a part of daily life at AGH (Q#52)  90% of staff feel excellent/very good/good on how their ethical beliefs coincide with the hospital’s beliefs (Q#53) 7

Negative Findings Top 3 Negative Trends in Staff Survey:  Staffing  Overall Organization/Resource Allocation  Hiring, Promoting, Job Opportunity, & Job Security Analysis of the 2012 staff survey showed the above category questions as averaging the overall lowest score 9

Staffing  63% of staff believe that the staff is well-balanced between the people who supervise work and the people who carry out the work (Q#8)  54% of staff feel all work teams co-operate and communicate well with each other and try to help each other out (Q#9) 10

Overall Organization/ Resource Allocation  49% of staff believe the Atikokan General Hospital has great success when cutting unnecessary costs (Q#22)  54% of staff understand the decision making process for allocating resources (Q#25)  46% of staff feel local resource allocation decisions never interfere with their ability to do what is medically best for patients (Q#27) 11

Hiring, Promoting, Job Opportunity, & Job Security  66% of staff feel the Atikokan General Hospital hires the most suitable person for the job (Q#15)  58% of staff believe that when promoting within the Atikokan General Hospital the process is fair and unbiased (Q#16) 12
