Do Now: Free Writing  Open the textbook to p. 7.  Free write about what’s going on in the picture and the mood it portrays. Don’t stop until directed.  Share out (BONUS).

Objectives:  The students will be able to integrate the values which African Americans share with Native Americans.

Focus Lesson: Common Values…  Academic Vocabulary  Integrate: to coordinate or unite  Values: principles which people value  Direct Instruction  List of Native American values from do-now.  Anansi story:  Guided Practice  Preview  Reading: one paragraph at a time  If a Native American value is revealed in the paragraph, take a QNT.  Else proceed to the next paragraph.  Small Groups: QNTs on Native American Values  Divide into small study groups.  Continue reading through 5 paragraphs w. 1 QNT/paragraph.

Homework: Common Values…  Secure either a flash drive or create a Google account so that you can store files.  Tomorrow we will be producing PowerPoints in room #300 but we will meet in room #301 at the beginning.
