Year in Review 2014 Member Feedback

Member Experience  Members Agreed/Strongly Agreed with the following statements: I have more skills to be successful in a conservation career after SCA. My SCA experience gave me opportunities for professional Development. Overall I am happy with my SCA experience! The service I performed made a difference to the place where I served. My SCA experience gave me opportunities for practicing how to be a leader.

Impact  How has your SCA experience impacted you and affected your life? Has it changed you in any way?  It helped me become more open to group work and to be part of a community rather than just an individual.  The SCA kickstarted my professional career and connected me with a great group of conservation leaders in the Hudson Valley.  My SCA experience inspired me! It gave me the chance to work with amazing biologists and park managers. It gave me hands-on field experience and experience leading volunteer events. SCA reinforced my interest in conservation work.  My two ten-month SCA terms are more valuable to me than four years of college study (not to mention less expensive!). The skills and knowledge I gained at my site are things, not tangible, that I will carry with me from this point forward.  My SCA experience has allowed me to gain skills that I would not otherwise may not have been able to gain. The availability of professional development and training opportunities has enabled me to become a competitive job seeker in the conservation field.

General Feedback The work that I performed matched the position that was described to me before I started. While I was serving I felt like part of AmeriCorps Yes – 71.79% (28) No – 28.21% (11)

Partner Feedback The partner (park, organization, etc) where I did the work was supportive The work that I performed matched the position that was described to me before I started.

Thanks for another great year!
