Texture Art in the classroom

Texture is an element of art that refers to the way an object feels to the touch or looks as it may feel if touched. 3-D Texture is texture that can be physically touched and felt.

2-D Texture, also called visual texture, is the illusion of how an object would feel if it could be physically touched.

Tin work, known in Mexico as hojalata, goes back to the 16th Century. Artists use natural, oxidized and brightly lacquered paints to create ornaments, nichos, mirrors, lanterns and other decorative pieces. Hojalata / 3-D Texture

Ornamental Plaster / 3-D Texture Special decoration done on building exteriors, ceilings or walls. The process of creating plasterwork has been used in building construction for centuries.

Tin Tile / 3-D Texture Historically, tin ceilings were introduced to North America as an affordable alternative to the exquisite plasterwork used in European homes.
