Basic Skills 50% of the working-age population in Wales lack basic numeracy skills, a higher proportion than in any of the English regions apart from the north east. The average for England as a whole is 46%. 25% of the working-age population in Wales lack basic literacy skills, again a higher proportion than in any of the English regions. Family Learning Designed to help children gain skills whilst the parents/carers are also gaining skills/knowledge and understanding Supporting the Basic Skills development of children by helping the parent to overcome their Basic Skills needs This is not parenting skills but provides examples of coping strategies Partnership with Schools and Local Education Authorities

Deaf Studies Provision Changing the opportunities available to Deaf individuals and Deaf Communities through education and training and resulting in a individuals within society which are Deaf/BSL aware and supportive in their everyday life A team of Deaf and hearing staff Established in 1990 Bespoke provision – supporting the communication rights of Deaf people across North Wales From Level 1 in British Sign Language (BSL) to Higher Education Degree Winners of NIACE Adult Learner group award Winners of NIACE Adult Learning and Democracy Award

Helping the older generation to – gain skills to access services and information online – to communicate electronically with friends and family. Supporting Welfare reform implications – No access to IT/Internet – Lack of skills to upload CVs and apply for jobs online Helping the long term unemployed – To learn office computing programmes – To better access job information online – To apply for jobs online – Improving their confidence for work
