Homes and Families Long Ago How families and homes looked long ago

Homes Homes were built so that families could raise their own food. Most families lived on farms.

Homes Homes were very simple. They built their own homes.

Homes They used materials around them. Many homes were one room.

Families and Homes They all shared a common sleeping area.

Families Sometimes more than one family would share a home until another house could be built.

Families They had big families with many children.

Families Grandparents, aunts, and uncles many times lived in the same house.

Children and Families Children were treated very differently from today. Many times they performed jobs that were dangerous and hard.

Children and Families It took everyone to make the farms run. Children were expected to work like the parents.
