1. Sacrificially - 2 Cor. 8:1-5 Bible giving involves a sacrifice Luke 21:1-4 Can we call what we give a “sacrifice”? They gave sacrificially because they had first given themselves to the Lord (v. 5).

2. Willingly - 2 Cor. 8:3, 12, 9:2 8:3 - “they gave of their own accord” (NASV) 8:12 - “if the readiness if present” (NASV) 9:2 - prothumia - “predisposition” 8:8 - spoude - “speed” Our giving is to be done with a sense of predisposition and readiness, showing a desire to participate.

3. Bountifully - 2 Cor. 9:5-6 v. 5 “as a matter of bounty” (KJV) eulogia - “fine speaking, by extension – the benefit or generous gift” 9:13 - “for your liberal sharing with them” What we give is to be given out of a desire to bless others, an overflow of blessings.

4. Purposefully - 2 Cor. 9:7 proaireo - “to being forward, make up one’s mind, to choose beforehand” Biblical giving is planned giving. Doing so will make it an accurate reflection of our gratitude towards God, as well as a representation of our willingness to take part in the Lord’s work.

5. Cheerfully 2 Cor. 9:7 hilaros - “happy” Acts 20:35 One who gives without reluctance, deriving joy from giving to help the cause of Christ and his fellowman.
