Dealing with common injuries
What are common injuries? Common injuries are accidents that easily happen at home. We may not be able to prevent them from happening, but everyone should know what to do if an accident happens.

1) Human bites can be more dangerous than some animal bites. T Because there are more types of bacteria and viruses that live in the human’s mouth. 2) One treatment to stop serious bleeding is elevation of the wound, if possible. T Elevating the wound can reduce the blood flow. How to deal with common injuries?
3) A second-degree burn is less serious than a first-degree burn. F First-degree burns refers to only the outer layer of skin is burned. Second-degree burns are more serious. And third-degree burns are the most serious, involving all layers of skin.
4)In an adult, elevated temperatures aren't usually dangerous until they reach 40.5 o C. F When the elevated temperature reaches 40.5 o C, it may indicate great infection or other diseases. Once the temperature reaches 40.5 o C, it begins to damage your internal organs.
5) If a foreign object is fixed deeply in a person's body, remove it immediately to lower the risk of damage. F Because if the foreign object is fixed deeply into the body, it may reduce some blood flow. You’d better cover the person's wound with a clean cloth. Don't try to remove the object yourself. Just leave it in. Seek emergency medical assistance.
6) If a person’s ankle is hurt badly, put a hot towel around the hurt ankle before going to hospital. F Because heat can speed blood circulation, thus the injury inside the skin may bleed more and fast. You’d better put an ice pack on your ankle.
