THE MIND OF CHRIST 1 Corinthians 2:16

14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16 For "who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:14-16

“We have the mind of Christ.” Paul quotes Isaiah 40:13 – then makes a statement for all believers. “We have the mind of Christ.” We share in the plans, purpose, and viewpoint or perspective of Christ. We think like Christ thought.

Having the mind of Christ means : We understand God's plan for the world We seek to bring glory to God We preach salvation for sinners We agree with Christ's purpose, to seek and save the lost We share the compassion of Christ

Put this passage in its context. In this chapter (1 Corinthians 2) there are some truths concerning the mind of Christ.

1 – Mind of Christ is in sharp contrast to the wisdom of man 1 Corinthians 2:5-6 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. 6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.

1 – Mind of Christ is in sharp contrast to the wisdom of man We do not think or act the way the world does We think and act they way Christ does We do not depend on human wisdom for the decisions we make in life

2 – Mind of Christ involves things once hidden, but now revealed 1 Corinthians 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,

3 – Mind of Christ is given to believers through the Spirit of God 1 Corinthians 2:10-11 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

3 – Mind of Christ is given to believers through the Spirit of God We have the mind of God revealed in the Bible There is no other way to know the mind of God except the Spirit of God reveal it.

4 – Mind of Christ cannot be understood by those who do not have the Spirit 1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

4 – Mind of Christ cannot be understood by those who do not have the Spirit We often make the mistake of trying to follow those who are not God's (don't have the Spirit of God). If they are not God's people, they do not have the Spirit of God dwelling in them.

5 – Mind of Christ give us discernment in spiritual matters 1 Corinthians 2:15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.

In order to have the mind of Christ : We must have a saving, obedient faith. We must follow the direction of Christ. We must be in tune with the Spirit of Christ. We must have a renewed mind – Romans 12:2
