G5 Beam Line Vacuum System

G5 Beamline Vacuum System Design  Bakeable and Particulate free to Class 100 Clean Room quality Require Clean room QA and processing, and special clean room installation techniques Some of the required techniques have been performed for 5-cell bakeout and CET. Support, bellows and clearances designed to accommodate thermal expansion from bakeout  Target e-gun exit pressure goal of ~ torr Protect against poisoning of advanced cathode designs Adopt Pumping system design planned for ERL zig-zag injection beam line Achievable for beamline proper with bakeout, uncertainty associated with beam component gas load  G5 Injection Chambers w/ circular aperture similar to Loop Quad Chambers Stainless steel tubing as opposed to inconel construction in B field Bellows are not rf-shielded, except laser/ion-pump cross is rf-shielded, capacitive short design Bakeable to 250ºC, except BPM blocks (150 ºC Vacuum Seal Limitation)  Use of vacuum components intended for ERL zig-zag injection line and ERL loop where appropriate HOM Damper Laser/Ion-pump cross Ion pumps and supplemental vacuum pumps ERL Triplet Chambers

G5 Beamline Vacuum System Status  G5 Vacuum Beamline Components in BNL Inventory Triplet ERL Loop Chambers Laser/Ion Pump Cross High Order Mode Damper Ceramic Large Low profile 150 L/s Ion Pumps and Supplemental Titanium Sublimation Pumps Small Shielded 25 L/s Ion pumps All components must be processed through the clean room  Several G5 specific chambers remain to be fabricated and processed.  All Beamline instrumentation to be vacuum and clean room processed QA and/or particulate free processing as required.  Estimated material cost to complete G5 beamline vacuum system: ~$90k Chambers and other beamline components ~$35k. Bakeout jackets and other bakeout related material ~$20k. Beamline Installation Support Equipment ~$5k Additional clean room processing (recommended) ~$13k Controls, including PLC components, cables, connectors ~$16k Excludes costs associated with pressure relief
