Famous people John Kay: invented the flying shuttle. The flying shuttle was a cord that moved the thread more rapidly across the loom. James Hargreaves: created a machine that he named the spinning ‘jenny’ in honor of his wife. This machine produced eight times as more than the spinning wheel. Richard Arkwright: made improvements with a machine called the water frame. The water frame ran on water and was easier to use than other machines. Samuel Crompton: combined the water frame and the spinning jenny in another machine called the spinning mule. Edmund Cartwright: made the fastest loom. The loom powered by water. Eli Whitney: invented the cotton gin, it was so strong that it could complete the work of 50 people. Thomas Newcomen: created the first steam engine. James Watt: Created several improvements to the weaving company and produced the modern steam engine.

Labor Source They had steam, The steam was dependable, continuous and could be moved from place to place as a good power source. They used Newcomen machines to pump water from mines. The Newcome machines were more powerful than the steam. Watt’s created the steam engine leading the steam to replaced water as the major power source of the time.

Predictions for impact on Great Britain We think that men and women will still work from there homes but use the water running machines because they were cheaper. Work will also be easier because of all the new inventions they have. Also production will increase and England will not be able to keep up with it.

Predictions for how it will spread & how it will impact other countries We think that it will spread by trade because people will want the cloth and cotton to make there own clothes. We think it will impact other countries in a good way because they will have new inventions and more cotton and cloth to trade and make clothes with.

Why is your topic the most important factor in the advancement of the Industrial Revolution? We think Textiles are the most important because everyone need to wear clothes and clothes are important things to life. Also, cotton clothes are cheap and inventors make machines to work easily.
