3 Status of S.P0125 (2 of 2)

4 Service Definition Abbreviated Dialing refers to the ability for the customer to dial a local only legacy short code. The serving switch translates these short codes to a ten-digit directory number on a global basis and routes the call. –Typical example: Dial *Pizza to reach a local Pizza place. Short Code Dialing Definition: Short Code Dialing refers to the ability for the customer to dial a short code such as #BAL, #PAY, #PMT, #MIN. The serving switch translates these short codes to a ten-digit directory number on a global basis and routes the call. # codes may be implemented locally only or globally throughout the operator’s Network. Vanity Number Definition: Vanity Numbers refers to the ability to call NANP Directory Numbers that are greater than 10 digits in length. For example, the number SEE-AMERICA equates to Special switch translations are required to complete calls to vanity Numbers such as this. –Example, if a user calls SEE-AMERICA in San Diego, then the call will be dispatched to tourist center in San Diego.

5 Summary and Recommendation The main characteristics of the three services are the same: –The number dialed is a non-E.164 number. –Translation function is need to map the short-hand number to the final destination address. –The mapping needs to be based on the caller’s location information. Recommended Stage 1 Approach: –Create one requirement document for all three services instead of three separate requirement documents.

6 Next Steps May 2007, San Diego – Initiation of Formal TSG Review August 2007, Montreal – TSG Comment Resolution November 2007, Osaka – V&V Complete – Recommend for Publication Stage 2/3 development in parallel with objective to publish EOY H07 or 4Q07: Planning additional and more advanced VoIP supplementary services for Revision A 2008: Stage 1/2/3 development of Revision A
