Classwork Opening Exercise Isaiah sold candy bars to help raise money for his basketball team. Is the amount of candy bars sold proportional to the money Isaiah received? How do you know? _________________________________________________ _______________________ No it is not proportional because the unit price is not the same for every quantity.

Two characteristics of proportional graphs: Line goes through the origin. Points lie in a straight line Make a table for a proportional relationship Candy Bars Money

The graph could go through the origin, but it is not a straight line so it is not a proportional relationship.

Similarities with Example 1: The points of both graphs fall in a line Differences from Example 1: One graph is steeper than the other. Graph 1 begins at the origin, but graph 3 does not.
