MOTIVATING LEARNERS IN THE CLASSROOM

DEFINETION OF THE MOTIVATION A reason or reasons for acting or behaving in a particular way

There are two basic classifications of motivation : 1- Intrinsic 2- Extrinsic

Intrinsic Motivation  Needs, Interests and desires.  Pat the back  Supporting socially  To avoid despairs  To evaluate students individually

Extrinsic Motivation  Rewards and environmental effects  Grade  Compliment  Certificates  To sign homeworks

Motivation is optimum in these conditions :  Students do duties if there is no oppression.  Homeworks should be suitable for students  There should be enough choices

There are some suggestions to motivate students  Teachers shouldn’t compare students.  Homeworks should be suitable for student’s ages and abilities.  To reward students.

 Teachers shouldn’t threat students with grade.  Smiling, saying “well done”, touching are important to encourage students.

 To give responsibility  When teachers start lesson, they can ask students interesting questions.  To make lessons fun.
