Outline Why Teamwork is Crucial to Success Team Dynamic Roles on the Team Collaboration itself Collaboration with Others Sustainability

Teamwork is Crucial to Success Every member needs to pull their own weight on a given team and work with each other to have a satisfying experience as well as to make progress. Sporting analogy! In a rowing shell, every member is responsible for following the person directly in front of them and working together

If they do not: -Oars will hit people in the back -You risk tipping the boat -The boat will not move -You accomplish nothing and everyone leaves feeling very sad. If they do: -The boat will fall into a steady rhythm -Rowers will be able to pick up speed together -All members are working together so that everyone is doing something and every member leaves with an accomplishment. FTC Team: -You will be unsuccessful in judging because not every member will know what is going on - If something breaks on the robot/ there is an issue with code/ someone doesn’t show etc then the rest of the group is left at a standstill. FTC Team: -In judging, your team will be more successful - In the event that someone is gone, the team can move forward - Everyone on the team will know they have a part

On an FTC Team Every person on the team is EQUALLY important. There is no hierarchy between the main programmer and the main team designer Every member is responsible for working with the team and plays a role

Team Dynamic It should be FUN Enjoy a team building activity Communications People have different communication styles Learn as a team to be able to work with everyone Accepting of everyone's ideas Listen to what is being said in discussions because it is likely that a collaborative idea may become the ultimate solution versus the initial, single idea (Students being students and coaches being coaches, not students)

Sustainability Main Programmer Head Scouter Team Concept CAD Expert Head Engineer Head Strategist

Collaboration Itself It is important that all members of the team work together on large ideas so that every member has a solid understanding of the main concepts. The most successful groups during a judging session will have all students capable of talking about their team at a broad extent, even if something is not their main area. *On the field- communication

Collaboration with Others It is both okay and encouraged to work with other teams You can work together for practice- SCRIMMAGES! Add in link for UM field Competitions- If needed, it is GP to lend parts or tools The goal is to compete against each teams best work
