Qinghong’s family moved from Shanghai to mountainous area in Guizhou to support the construction of the remote, impoverished land, which named Sanxian construction. The parent went there passionately to build the country, but they regretted it in the coming tide of new society. They wanted to return to Shanghai. But to their daughter Qinghong, the mountainous area is exactly where she lived, and she didn’t want to return to Shanghai. When her father found that she was in love with a young local worker Xiaogen, he tried every method to cut their love because he thought “We would one day go back to Shanghai”. So when the docile daughter who could not go against father’s discipline struggled a long time and finally told Xiaogen they had to break up, the half-drunk Xiaogen, sad and mad with what her father said before and what she said then, raped her that night.
