 Function- used for preparing meals, storage, eating and working  Location- needs to be near service entrance, utility room, dining room and social zone  Décor- the kitchen is usually the most expensive room in the house. The style of the cabinets makes a large impact in the room  Size and Shape of the room may create limitations

 Storage (includes mixing)  Cooking  Cleanup There are three main areas in the kitchen

 Refrigerator, cabinets and countertops

 Includes range and oven. Provides storage for utensils and work space. Adequate ventilation is a must.

 Includes sink, waste disposal and dishwasher

 A line should be drawn connecting the three major centers. The perimeter of an efficient kitchen should be no more than 22’. The distance between any two areas should not be less that 4’. Stove Sink Refrigerator
