Brain Food, Is there such a thing

Some common knowledge We know that the foods we eat affect the body. But they may have even more of an influence on how the brain works—it's general tone and level of energy. Mood, motivation and mental performance are powerfully influenced by diet. Omega-3s are known to be particularly crucial constituents of the outer membrane of brain cells.

What are some good brain foods? Avocados Bananas Beef, lean Broccoli Brown rice Brussels sprouts Cantaloupe Cheese Chicken Eggs Milk Oatmeal Oranges Peanut butter Potatoes Romaine lettuce Salmon Tuna Turkey Wheat germ Yogurt

Research shows… Sugar can make you sharp—although no one can figure out what is the right dose at the right time. Carbohydrates—especially when eaten with no protein or fat—may indeed be mentally soothing. There are times when we all need some of that.

BACON!!! According to a recent study, a bacon sandwich is the perfect remedy for a hangover. It even replenishes neurotransmitters eviscerated by all those orange oil + Thai bird chili infused vodka concoctions you imbibed the night before.

Stay away from… a diet that draws heavily on fatty food and only lightly on fruits and vegetables Alcohol Artificial food colorings Artificial sweeteners Colas Corn syrup Frostings High-sugar "drinks" Hydrogenated fats Junk sugars Nicotine Overeating White bread

Remember: A crossword a day may keep memory loss at bay
