The Honduran White Bat Presented by Sean C. Counihan
Appearance As you can see from the title slide, Honduran White Bats have snow-white fur and yellow noses and ears. They have an average size of 3.7 to 4.7 centimeters.
Habitat These bats are found in Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and western Panama at elevations from sea level to 700 meters. As for where specifically they live, they cut certain veins in plant leaves so that they flop down. The bats then hang upside-down in the leaf.
Diet and Predators The Honduran White Bat eats insects, as do all microbats. However, it feeds at least in part on fruit. It does not have any predators, and its only fear is humans.
Interesting Facts They live in colonies of one male and a harem of females. They are one of only two species of white bats. They are the only type of microbats to feed at least in part on fruit.
Conclusion In conclusion, the Honduran White Bat is a truly fascinating and wonderful animal. I hope you enjoyed my slideshow. Sean C. Counihan
